Pressure Washing
The exterior was washed to remove surface dirt and residue before repair and coating work began.
Stone Painting Project · Spring Hill, Kansas
Faded colors, peeling paint, and damaged wood were carefully addressed before this two-story home received a warmer, more modern Sherwin-Williams color palette.
A Real Stone Painting Project
The homeowners were ready to move on from the existing exterior color and give their home a more current appearance. The original coating had faded, areas of paint were peeling, and portions of the wood required attention before repainting.
Stone Painting completed the project at their two-story home in the Estates of Wolf Creek neighborhood of Spring Hill. Lorenzo Lopez led the crew through the washing, scraping, sanding, repairs, priming, caulking, masking, and finish painting.
The project was completed in three days, but the crew did not rush the details that affect long-term performance. Along the sides and rear of the home, paint was hand-brushed between every seam of the smart siding to improve coverage in those narrow areas.
The finished home features Sherwin-Williams Dried Thyme, Shiitake, and Tricorn Black for a warmer, more modern exterior.
The Homeowner’s Goals
The homeowners were tired of the existing color and wanted the home to feel more modern. They also needed the project to address areas where the old paint was fading, peeling, or exposing vulnerable wood.
The goal was not simply to cover the old color. The crew first needed to prepare the home carefully so the new finish would be applied over a cleaner, more stable surface.
Preparation Before Painting
Stone Painting pressure washed the exterior, scraped away loose paint, sanded rough edges, repaired damaged wood, filled nail holes, and caulked joints where needed. Bare and repaired areas were primed before the satin finish was applied.
Windows and fixtures were masked, landscaping was protected, and outdoor furniture was covered so the crew could work carefully around the property.
The exterior was washed to remove surface dirt and residue before repair and coating work began.
Loose paint was removed and rough transitions were sanded to create a better surface for primer and paint.
Localized damaged wood was addressed before the finish system was applied.
Open joints were caulked and visible nail holes were filled where needed.
Exposed and repaired surfaces were primed before the finish coats were applied.
Windows, fixtures, landscaping, and furniture were masked or covered throughout the project.
A Detail Hidden in the Finished Result
On the sides and back of the home, Stone Painting’s crew hand-brushed paint between every seam of the smart siding.
That extra work is difficult to see once the home is complete, but it helps improve coverage in narrow areas that can otherwise receive a thinner coating.
It is a strong example of Stone Painting’s approach: give attention to the details that protect the home, even when those details will not be obvious in the final photograph.
Siding seams can be vulnerable because they are narrow, repetitive, and easy to overlook during a fast application.
Hand-brushing helped work the coating into those seams more completely and supported the long-term performance of the paint job.
Adam and Kristen may not see every individually brushed seam, but they benefit from the care that went into them.
The New Color Palette
Adam and Kristen selected a coordinated Sherwin-Williams palette that introduced warmer natural tones and stronger contrast across the exterior.
An earthy green that gave the exterior a warmer, more distinctive foundation.
A warm neutral used to soften and balance the deeper exterior tones.
A strong black accent that added definition to shutters and architectural details.
Screen colors are approximate. Actual paint colors can appear different depending on lighting, surroundings, surface texture, and display settings.
The completed exterior feels warmer and more modern while still fitting naturally within the Estates of Wolf Creek neighborhood.
The Completed Transformation
The new color combination gave the home more depth and personality. Dried Thyme introduced a grounded green tone, Shiitake added warmth, and Tricorn Black created contrast around the shutters and other details.
The finished home now has the modern appearance Adam and Kristen wanted, but the result was supported by the less-visible work completed underneath it.
The homeowners were thrilled with how the home turned out and left Stone Painting a five-star review after the project was completed.
